A-Ron’s Movie Reviews: Widows

Early buzz was that “Widows”, is the new “Set It Off” the 1996 Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith female bank heist thriller. For one thing “Widows” is definitely not the film I expected from British filmmaker Steve McQueen, but it’s also not “Set It Off”. Steve McQueen’s film is a blistering and brilliant and hard punching modern masterpiece. It’s …

A-Ron’s Movie Reviews: Overlord

I couldn’t help but think while watching “Overlord” that it’s one of the best video game movies ever made, and yet it’s not even based on a video game. If it were a video game “Wolfenstein” would be the best comparison. “Overlord” does make me want to play WWII Zombies on “Call Of Duty Black Ops 3”. On 6 June …

A-Ron’s Movie Reviews: Destination Wedding

One of the many things I love about Keanu Reeves is that he takes the time and enjoys releasing the smaller independent films between shooting his big studio films. A few months ago he released the independent crime thriller “Siberia”. While I enjoyed the film it doesn’t come close to his newest film “Destination Wedding”, which finds itself to be …

A-Ron’s Movie Reviews: Mandy

When the trailer for “Mandy” was released I knew right away it was going to be an experience unlike any other. Boy it sure was. Movies like this don’t end up at the Sundance film festival but it did earlier this year as part of their midnight movie showcase. “Mandy” falls exactly in that category as a “midnight movie”. The …
