On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at about 12:45 a.m., a female (41) reported to police that she had been held against her will; and strangled by her ex-boyfriend, Alika Kaniho-Batoon (23) while at her residence on Lanai.
The victim was able to escape the residence and ran to the Lanai Police Station for assistance.
The victim received treatment at the Lanai Community Hospital for her injuries. Kaniho-Batoon was located and taken into police custody and placed under arrest for one (1) count Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, one (1) count Kidnapping, two (2) counts of Abuse Strangulation, and one (1) count Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree. Bail was set at $71,000.00.
The investigation is still on-going.
