Kula Fire Injures Firefighter

A Maui Fire Department firefighter was injured while responding to a structure fire on Mauna Place in Kula on Sunday night.

MFD officials say that crews arrived on the scene following a 9:35 p.m. alarm to find a shed/carport-type structure fully involved in fire. The blaze was quickly knocked down and it was confirmed that no occupants were within it.

The firefighter was transported in stable condition by medics to Maui Memorial Medical Center.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Officials estimate that $35,000 in damages were caused to the structure, $20,000 in contents, and $10,000 in damages to a vehicle inside the structure.
