Be Aware: Dramatic Footage Shows Flash Flood Surge at Waioka Ponds

Heavy rains in East Maui earlier this week prompted Flash Flood Advisories for the island but what seemed like a clear day at Waioka Ponds, also known as Venus Pools in Hana, the sound of rushing water prompted action.

Eric Duncan said, “I almost jumped off the rock into the water then my buddy stopped me and said, “do you hear running water?” Then we started yelling for everyone to get out of the water and thankfully got everyone out.”

He posted on Facebook, “So amazing to see. BUT use common sense and ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings…”

This video was 30 seconds after the last person got out of the water.
