Mayor Michael Victorino answers weekly questions submitted to his office staff.
Question: There are no water fountains at the Upcountry Skate Park in Pukalani. What steps can community members take to change this?
Answer: Mahalo for your question and it seems that someone already took steps to address this issue by bringing it up during my administration’s Upcountry community budget meeting, last month. Our Department of Parks and Recreation have plans to install a water fountain by the restroom that is adjacent to the Skate Park. I know this water fountain will be very helpful and well-used by our keiki.
I’d like to remind all of our residents of the schedule for the remaining community meetings for the FY 20-21 Budget happening across Maui County. I strongly encourage everyone to come out and give your comments and suggestions to my administration as we develop the proposed budget for the Fiscal Year 2020-2021.
Suggestions from the public will help us prioritize what is best for our community, and understand how to better serve our residents. Tables will be set up to allow directors and staff from each County department to meet with members of the public, hear budget-related needs, listen to concerns and answer questions about various County-related issues. Community members with an interest in the County budget are encouraged to attend a meeting to offer input, either as individuals or on behalf of an organization. Both written and verbal comments will be accepted.
Each community meeting begins with an overview of the current budget, followed by approximately one hour for attendees to submit comments at the various department tables.
