Man Rescued from Waters of Near Hamoa Beach

The Maui Fire Department responded to an ocean rescue on Monday.

Fire officials say the incident occurred at “sandbar” near Hamoa Beach in Hana.

Fire and EMS crews responded to the scene to reports of a 38-year-old man who was seen floating face down in the water about 50 feet from the shore. Another individual who was believed to be in the water was also unaccounted for.

Bystanders removed the 38-year-old from the water and begun CPR. Upon MFD arrival, emergency personnel took over efforts and the male victim regained a pulse. He was transported to Hana Airport where he was flown to Kahului for further treatment.

The missing individual swam to shore shortly after MFD arrival.
