The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Flossie to a hurricane.
As of 11 a.m. Hurricane Flossie was centered as over the eastern North Pacific Ocean about 1045 miles (1685 km) southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.
Flossie is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). A westward to west-northwestward motion at about the same forward speed is expected during the next few days.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km). Additional strengthening during the next few days is expected.
