Search Suspended for Missing Hiker

The Maui County Department of Fire & Public Safety has suspended its
search for missing hiker Amanda Eller.

Officials say the search was called off at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday.

Maui Fire Department personnel had been conducting search on foot and by air through Sunday morning.

The Department assists the Maui Police Department for 72 hours in missing person’s cases. Officials with the department say they will continue to work with MPD and assist with future searching if new information is discovered.

Eller was reported missing on May 9 after last being seen the day prior. Her vehicle was found by police in the parking lot at the Makawao Forest Reserve.
