Eller search team moves to find missing Maui man Noah Kekai Mina

Searchers fresh from finding Amanda Eller, are now looking for 35-year-old Noah Kekai Mina, who went missing Monday morning at around 8 a.m. while hiking in Iao Valley.

His father, Vincent Mina, says he had gone up to meet his son, and couldn’t find him. He called the police later that morning.

Vincent says Noah Kekai hikes in Iao Valley regularly and is familiar with the area. He’s afraid his son has fallen and gotten hurt, but is hopeful because his son is strong and an outdoorsman.

“I feel he’d be practical in the sense that he’s hunkered down and working with the weather situation,” said Vincent.

Vincent says county rescuers found Noah Kekai’s slippers and a possible footprint, but the trail went cold. While Vincent says the police search for Noah Kekai ended on Saturday, the private effort continues.

The two rescuers who spotted Eller from a chopper went back up on Sunday afternoon looking for him and say they plan to continue to help in the days ahead. “I’m meeting with the Noah Mina family to put together a team to go search for him. Circumstances are different, but we’re moving on to the next mission because he’s a member of our community,” Javier Cantellops – one of Eller’s rescuers – said Saturday in a press conference for Amanda Eller.
