X-ray equipment issues slow down Kahului Airport security checkpoints

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is warning those traveling through Kahului Airport (OGG) of major delays due to x-ray equipment issues.

With delays expected at security checkpoints, travelers are urged to arrive at OGG at least two hours before their flight’s departure.

“Currently, TSA is experiencing reduced screening capacity due to inoperable x-ray equipment,” a spokesperson for the TSA commented.

There is no estimated time for completion as TSA continues to work to repair the equipment. Until then, TSA is offering tips for travelers:

  • Arrive at least two hour ahead of fight departure. Security checkpoints are busy even during the evening hours.
  • Consider checking your bags. The less items needed to be screen through the security checkpoint saves time for all travelers.
  • Be prepared for the security screening process. To find out whether an item is allowed in your carry-on, use the TSA’s “Can I Bring?” feature on their website.
