The Maui man accused of stabbing a police officer with a pole is now charge with attempted murder. Maui News reports, it happened last Thursday in Wailuku.
According to police, 55-year-old Joseph K. Pang Ching went to the ARC of Maui office and began yelling obscenities at a worker.
She later locked herself in the building and called police, but when MPD tried to arrest Pang Ching at his home on Malaihi Road he grabbed a long pole with a sharp end and struck an officer in the chest. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
Bail is set at $500,000.
