The Summit District of Haleakalā National Park has reopened.

Haleakalā National Park officials announced the reopening just after 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The Summit District was closed for six days after a severe winter storm left snow and ice on the Summit District roads, as well as fallen trees and loose rocks.

Warm temperatures have melted much of the snow and ice making the roads safe to travel, according to officials.
