Firefighters Douse House Fire in Kahului

At approximately 7:30 p.m. on November 24, Maui Fire Department firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire at 225 S. Papa Avenue in Kahului.

On scene, crews found active fire on the exterior of the structure that extended into the kitchen area of the home. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames and confirm no one was located within the structure.

There were four occupants in the home at the time, and all of them were able to safely exit prior to the arrival of fire crews from Wailuku and Kahului.

Authorities say there were no injuries to report. Damages are estimated at $27,000 to the structure and $2,000 to contents.

The cause of this fire is undetermined.
