While the recovery process continues for the Garden Isle and Hawaii Island residents aim to stay grounded, amongst constant earthquakes and devastation caused by fissures/lava, local Maui residents are banding together to support the recovery effort.
On the heels of disaster proclaimations and hundreds of millions of dollars sought for aid, 21 of Maui’s finest chefs will gather Sunday, July 8th at 5:30pm in support of fundraising and relief efforts.
“Hawaii is a unique place; though not connected by land, we are connected in our Aloha, our desire to want to help one another and our way of life. In times like this, we come together to kokua where we are able,” Lyndon Honda Executive Chef at the Sheraton Maui said.
“Giving back to the community is just part of our philosophy as a couple. And we feel it is important to support our entire state and not just the people in our neighborhoods. Food and music are staples of Hawaii living and we hope this event will continue to unite our communities as one,” Halemanu & Lisa Villarimo said.
Held at the Maui Tropical Plantation, the fundraiser hopes to raise $30,000 for the residents of Kauai and Hawaii Island. Just under two dozen of the island’s most sought after chefs along with entertainment provided by Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner Halemanu Villarimo and special silent auction will be offered.
