Heavy rain with rates up to 3 inches per hour expected across Upcountry Maui

At 4:52 p.m. radar indicated heavy rain falling at rates of up to two inches per hour across windward East Maui. These heavy upslope showers and thunderstorms are expected to persist into early evening and could lead to rapid rises in streams.

Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Haiku, Kaupo, Pauwela, Kipahulu, Huelo, Nahiku, Hana, Makawao, Paia, Kailua, Wailua and Haleakala National Park.

The National Weather Service has ISSUED a FLOOD ADVISORY for MAUI ISLAND in effect until 8:00 p.m.

At 1:57 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain with rates up to 3 inches per hour across Upcountry Maui, near and east of Kula, Pukalani and Makawao. These heavy upslope showers are expected to persist through the afternoon and can lead to rapid rises in streams.

Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Haiku, Haliimaile, Paia, Pauwela, Keokea, Huelo, Nahiku, Kailua and Wailua.

The National Weather Service has ISSUED a FLOOD ADVISORY for MAUI ISLAND in effect until 5:00 p.m.
