VIRAL Video: Mayoral candidate Beau Hawkes tazed by Maui Police

On Wednesday July 23 at around 9am, witnesses observed Maui Mayoral candidate Beau Hawkes crossing Wells street where a Maui Police officer attempted to stop him for an unknown reason. After making an attempt to flee, MPD tazed Hawkes which brought him to the ground. He was then joined by a second officer, where they completed the arrest. Witnesses say that the suspect ran from the police earlier that day, for allegedly not having license plates or a driver’s license. Beau was seen testifying in Council Chambers across the street, where public hearings on the GMO moratorium were conducted. We have reached out to MPD for comment and have yet to receive a response.
