Economist José Torra on why economic freedom matters
February 27 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm$10
The Grassroot Institute of Hawaii is pleased to host a discussion on “Why economic freedom matters,” featuring José Torra, an economist and research director for Caminos de la Libertad in Mexico City. Please join us on Tuesday, Feb.27, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Maui Country Club in Paia, Maui.
Torra is one of the three authors of the 2017 Economic Freedom of North America index, issued in January by the Canada-based Fraser Institute, as well as author of the book “Jonestown: Religión y Socialismo,” published in 2013 by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, about the disastrous Jonestown cult in Guyana.
Discussion moderator will be Keli’i Akina, Ph.D., president of Grassroot Institute of Hawaii, who will draw on his expertise in East-West philosophy to guide the discussion as it considers why economic freedom is both practically and morally beneficial to societies everywhere, with special focus on Hawaii and the various states of Mexico.
Please join us for this important discussion. The admission is $10 and includes light pupus and sandwiches. For more information, please call (808) 591-9193.
