Flash Flood Watch Issued for Maui County

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Maui County until late Saturday night. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. According to NWS officials, moisture associated with Hurricane Lane will maintain the threat for flooding rain. Moisture from Hurricane Lane will produce heavy rainfall, through Saturday. At 8:10 p.m., radar indicated terrain-anchored heavy rainfall over the slopes of Haleakala, with especially heavy rainfall over the area from Hookipa to Keanae to Hana to Kaupo.
