Haleakalā National Park Resumes Visitor Services as Government Shutdown Ends

Haleakala National Park resumes regular operations after the enactment of a continuing resolution by US Congress and President Donald Trump.

Visitor Centers in the Summit District and the Kipahulu District are open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The Pools of ‘Oheʻo in the Kīpahulu District are open and are monitored for possible flash floods. The pools may be closed with little notice when flash flooding is imminent.

All park interpretive and educational programs are being offered.

Reservations for the sunrise are required 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. 

Open in the Summit District

·         Headquarters Visitor Center, at 7000 feet elevation

·         Haleakalā Visitor Center, at 9741 feet elevation

·         Permits are required for backcountry cabins. Refunds for permits during the lapse in appropriations period may be requested by clicking here.

·         Hosmer Grove Campground
