Sunday Lahaina Brushfire Quickly Contained

On Sunday, November 11 at approximately 1:37 p.m., Maui Fire Department firefighters responded to reports of a brushfire in the area above Hanakao’o Beach in Lahaina.

Crews initially had a difficult time making access to the fire located in light brush on the hillside in the reported area. Firefighters from Lahaina and Napili eventually gained access and were able to quickly knock down flames and stop the fire’s progress.

At approximately 3:10 p.m. the fire was declared officially extinguished.

About a quarter of an acre was burned and the cause remains undetermined. There are no injuries to report, and no structures were threatened.
