At 11:00 AM HST, the center of Tropical Storm Miriam was located about 1270 miles WSW of the southern tip of Baja, California. Miriam is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue during the next few days.
Maximum sustained winds remain near 45 mph with higher gusts. Steady strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Miriam is expected to become a hurricane by late Monday.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center.
We will be keeping an eye on this storm if and when it enters the Central Pacific.
