MPD Revives Reserve Officer Program

On Monday, Maui Police Department Chief Tivoli Faaumu appointed retirees Barry Aoki and John Bowker to the newly re-instated Reserve Police Officer Program.

MPD had an active Reserve Police Officer program which phased out during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.

As Reserve Officers Barry and John will be assigned to assist with specific duties within the department.

Barry retired from MPD in December of 2017 after 26 years of service.

John retired in April 2017 after 25 years of service.

The Reserve Police Officer is a voluntary position and these first reservists will be extending their commitment to the community by serving within the department once again.
