Haiku man dies after truck plunges off cliff near Maliko Gulch

On Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at about 1:44 p.m. a white pickup truck reportedly was traveling north on Hana Highway when it drove off a 200-foot cliff at the top of Maliko Gulch towards Ho’okipa.

Emergency crews responded and recovered a white 2013 GMC pick-up from the bottom of the cliff, which was partially submerged in the water. A male driver was found inside the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was identified as a 47-year-old male from Haiku. His name has not been released.
