UPDATE: Kula Man Arrested in Connection to Shooting Incident

Updated at 9 p.m.

On Wednesday at approximately 4:47 p.m., Justin Namauu was located in Kahikinui and placed under arrest for the offense of Murder in the Second Degree in connection to a shooting incident that occurred on May 21.

Namauu has not been charged at this time as the investigation is on-going.

On Tuesday Maui Police Department officers responded to a residence in Kanaio for a report of an alleged shooting.

The alleged suspect was identified as 42-year-old Justin Namauu of Kula. 

Namauu is still at large as police continue the search.  He is possibly armed and is considered dangerous.

Namauu is described as 5-feet-10 inches tall and 225 pounds. He has also has brown hair and brown eyes.  

Police say Namauu is being sought for questioning in this case. 

An area off Piilani Highway near mile-marker 17 was temporarily closed to the public while police searched for a possible suspect. 

MPD says the public should not approach or follow Namauu if he is spotted.
