Hawai`i ranks high in overall tax burden as Tax Day quickly arrives, this is according to the 2018 Tax Burden by State report by personal-financial website WalletHub.
WalletHub compared the 50 states based on the three components of state tax burden — property taxes, individual income taxes, and sales and excise taxes — as a share of total personal income.
Hawai`i Ranked second in overall tax burden, first in total sales and excise tax burden, and 10th in individual income burden. The state, however, was at the end of the pack at 41st when it comes to property tax burden.
New York was listed as the state with the highest overall tax burden.
