Heavy Showers Prompt Flood Advisory for Maui

At 3:36 p.m., radar indicated persistent heavy showers and thunderstorms over Upcountry Maui and southeast slopes of Haleakala with isolated rain rates of around 2 inches per hour. Be aware of rises in streams and water in previously dry gulches, especially in Kihei and Wailea.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Maui Island in effect until 6:30 p.m.

Locations in this advisory include but are not limited to: Wailea, Ulupalakua, Kula, Pukalani, Keokea, Kihei, Makena, Kaupo and Kipahulu.
