Flash Flood Watch extended through this afternoon

Abundant moisture associated with a cold front will combine with a developing trough aloft to produce widespread heavy rainfall. Rain may be widespread, and may affect urban areas in the lower elevations, which are more susceptible to flooding problems. Additionally, prolonged locally intense rainfall may occur, leading to flash flooding of streams and low-lying areas.

The National Weather Service has EXTENDED the FLASH FLOOD WATCH for MAUI COUNTY, now in effect through this afternoon.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is very dangerous. Never drive into areas where water covers the road.

Hikers and campers should pay close attention to the latest forecasts, warnings, and conditions. Stay away from creeks and streams, and strongly consider postponing your trip until better weather returns.
