Authorities Seek ID of Two Men in Threat Incident

Maui Crime Stoppers is looking for the public’s assistance in identifying two occupants of a vehicle involved in an incident on August 26.

Officials say that at about 5:45 a.m., two unknown Hispanic males operating a red Nissan Frontier pickup truck approached the victims along Pi`ilani Highway in the Kanaio area. The suspects questioned the pair regarding the theft of a cooler and beer before driving towards Makawao.

The two males motioned for the victims to follow them.

Upon stopping at the Makawao Minit Stop at about 6:35 a.m., the operator of the red Nissan exited the vehicle and threatened one of the victims with a black folding knife.

The victims reportedly got back in their vehicle and left the area.

No license plate number was observed for the red Nissan.

The male with the knife is described as about 40 to 50-years old, Hispanic, about 5-feet-10-inches, and 200 to 220 pounds. He had shoulder length black hair and was wearing a white or silver t-shirt and dark shorts.

The second male is described as about 20 to 30-years-old, Hispanic, about 5-feet-10-inches, and 180 to 190 pounds. He also had shoulder length black hair and was wearing a black shirt with jeans and a camouflage baseball hat.

If anyone can identify the vehicle or the two occupants they should call Detective Dennis Clifton at 244-6433.
