The Maui Humane Society (MHS) announces that they will be participating in national “Clear the Shelters” Day happening Saturday, August 18, 2017, with all adoption fees being waived on adult dogs, cats and critters.

More than 700 shelters nationwide will be holding adoption events on Saturday in an effort to “Clear the Shelters.” The adoption push comes at a crucial time for MHS as the shelter had become uncomfortably crowded in the past few weeks, with SOS foster requests going out to the community for both dogs and cats.

Clear the Shelters was created to help address overcrowding of animal shelters and to raise awareness about the benefits of adopting from a local animal shelter. Across the country, over 50,000 pets found their forever homes last year during the Clear the Shelters event.

”Clear the Shelter s is a great way to raise awareness about the many dogs, cats and critters that are in need of permanent homes,” said Jerleen Bryant, CEO, Maui Humane Society. “We are thrilled to be part of this nationwide event in order to find forever homes for all of the animals in our care.”
