Kupuna Gather for Annual Aloha Luncheon

The 45th Annual Kupuna Aloha Luncheon was held on Saturday at the Grand Wailea Hotel in the Grand Ballroom from 9 am to 1 pm.  The event was hosted by the Maui County Planning & Coordinating Council, and sponsored by Maui Economic Opportunity, Inc.

In total 550 kupuna, guests and dignitaries attended the event.  Among them Governor David Ige and Mayor Alan Arakawa who also made remarks.

During the event, the First Annual Kupuna Advocate Award was given to Speaker Emeritus Joe Souki and Deputy Water Director Gladys Baisa.

Lance Rae from Walk Wise Hawai`i was the keynote speaker.  Entertainment was be provided by Pearl Rose and Kaina Kountry, who had the kupuna up and dancing along to their country tunes.
