Tree trimming causes major power outage in South Maui

At 12:06 this afternoon, the Maui Electric Company released their statement on the major South Maui power outage.

“At 10:15 a.m. today, about 930 customers in the Wailea area experienced a brief outage when tree trimmers accidentally dropped a coconut frond on overhead lines along South Kihei Road.  Power was restored to all customers by 10:45 a.m.” -said Shayna Decker, spokesperson for MECO.
