Powerful magnitude-7.4 earthquake strikes the Bering Sea between Russia and US

There is no tsunami threat to Hawai`i following a powerful earthquake in the Bearing Sea between Russia and the United States

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center notes that the 7.4 magnitude earthquake occurred at 1:34 p.m. Hawai`i Time.

BASED ON ALL AVAILABLE DATA: A DESTRUCTIVE PACIFIC-WIDE TSUNAMI IS NOT EXPECTED AND THERE IS NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO HAWAII.

PTWC reports the quake shook at a depth of 234 kilometers.

No reports of injuries near the epicenter were immediately reported.
