Road Work Snarls Traffic on Haleakala Highway

Numerous reports are coming in to the MAUIWatch newsroom of major traffic on Haleakala Highway, mainly in the central bound direction.

The slowed traffic is a result of road construction near the bottom of the highway and has slowed traffic to 35 mile per hour.

Road construction started early this week but backups haven’t been as been as bad as motorists are facing today.

Those driving in the affect areas should plan accordingly and drive with caution. Baldwin Avenue in Paia would be an alternate route to consider as well as Pulehu Rd for those coming from Kula.
