Fire Crews Respond to Early Morning Kula Brush Fire

At 12:03 a.m. Monday, Kula firefighters responded to a report of a brush fire on Pulehu Road.

Maui Fire Department officials say a passing motorist called the fire in.

Firefighters were on scene at 12:15 a.m. where they found a 20-by-100 foot strip of grass and brush burning off the shoulder of the road at the Pulehu Road and Omaopio Road junction

According to MFD Chief Edward Taomoto, the fire was extinguished at 1:00 a.m.

There were no injuries and no structures were threatened in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
