L&L Hawaiian Barbecue is all for using biodegradable containers. But have you ever put one of those on your lap?
“Some of our customers complained that it’s hot that it kind of burns them,” says Bryan Andaya, chief operating officer and vice president L&L Hawaiian Barbecue.
Watch what happens when Chief Operating Officer Bryan Andaya puts a beef stew plate lunch into an eco-friendly container. It gets pretty floppy that he needed a tray underneath.
He’s calling for more research.
Tina Yamaki President of The Retail Merchants of Hawaii agrees.
‘We need to have containers that can hold in the cold and hold in the hot hold in the liquid especially since we have plate lunches with gravy all over,’ says Yamaki.
Yamaki says there are pros and cons to the ban, but says one thing has to change.
“We need to have some educational things on littering programs. How to recycle and reuse things again,” Yamaki says.
