Heavy rain along the slopes of Haleakala prompt Flood Advisory

At 2:20 p.m., radar indicated areas of heavy showers and thunderstorms along both windward and leeward slopes of Haleakala. The heaviest showers were producing rain rates in excess of 2 inches per hour. Expect continued areas of heavy showers and possible rises in streams through the afternoon.

Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Kahului, Kihei, Pauwela, Wailea, Huelo, Paia, Makawao, Puunene, Kula, Pukalani, Haliimaile and Ulupalakua.

The National Weather Service has ISSUED a FLOOD ADVISORY for MAUI ISLAND in effect until 5:15 p.m.
