Fire crews respond to 2 fires, 1 in Kula and 1 in Lahaina

Early Saturday morning, February 25, 2017, Kula firefighters responded to a brush fire on Pulehu Road after a passing motorist reported it at around 5:15 a.m.
The Kula fire crew arrived at 5:27 a.m. and extinguished two, 10 x 10 foot brush fires a short distance off the shoulder of Pulehu Road, mauka of Opalipali Place. The fires were 30 feet apart. Crews had the fire extinguished at 5:45 a.m.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.

At 1:43 p.m. Saturday afternoon, fire crews in Lahaina extinguished a 50 x 50 foot grass and rubbish fire in a vacant lot mauka of Honoapiilani Highway near Prison Street.
A Lahaina engine and water tanker were on scene at 1:50 p.m. and brought the fire under control at 2:05 p.m. No structures were threatened. The fire was called extinguished at 2:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.
