Brushfire Burns 2 Acres in Pulehu/Omaopio Area

At approximately 3:47 this afternoon, Maui firefighters were called to reports of a brushfire in the Pulehu/Omaopio area. Engine 13 (Kula), Engine 10 (Kahului), Tanker 10 (Kahului), and a Battalion Chief responded.

Crews arrived on scene to find an active fire burning in an old cane field. Firefighters were able to control and extinguish the blaze within 2 hours. It is estimated that 2 acres of brush had burned. There are no injuries to report and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
