An area of moisture will be affecting the Haleakala Summit for the rest of tonight and early Sunday morning. Freezing temperature and ample moisture will result in icy roads above 9500 feet and a slight accumulation of snow possible atop the summit.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a winter Weather advisory for icy roads which is in effect until 10 AM Sunday.

Location: Haleakala above 9500 feet

Hazard Types: Icy roads and freezing rain.

Accumulations: Trace of snow.

Timing: Through Sunday morning

Impacts: Hazardous driving due to ice on roads.

Winds: southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph

Temperatures: low 30s.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of light snow or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery icy roads and use caution while driving.
